Gabby Williams hugs youth coach after leading Valkyries to victory — St. Helena Sports news

A big part of Saturday’s win for the Valkyries was thanks to Forward Gabby Williams, who showed up big in the third quarter. Williams scored 30 points in the game and was named WNBA Finals MVP. This after arriving as a free agent before the season. While Williams is from Reno, she has extended family in the Bay Area and visited frequently as a kid, even playing for Alfonzo Joo in the Bulldawgs Basketball Club, a youth organization in San Francisco. Joo told NBC Bay Area the two have remained close throughout Williams’ career. They were seen hugging after Saturday’s game on the court, right after it was called. Joo has coached basketball for about 30 years and still runs the Bulldawgs program.
